Take a slow walk through your garden, neighborhood, or local park and notice what has fallen along the way. Look for interesting leaves, small flowers, seed pods, grasses, feathers, or slender twigs. Choose only a few things that catch your attention. Part of this challenge is simply taking the time to notice them.
Press leaves and flowers for a few days, then arrange them on handmade paper, cardstock, or a journal page. Create a botanical collage, bookmark, greeting card, framed arrangement, or a record of what was growing during that particular season.
You can also try leaf rubbings or apply a little paint to the textured side of a leaf and use it as a printing stamp. Twigs, grasses, and seed pods can add shape and movement to a small wall hanging.
Tip: Place delicate leaves and flowers between plain sheets of paper before pressing them inside a heavy book.
To finish: Use a small amount of clear-drying glue beneath each piece. Sealing is optional, as some leaves and flowers are most beautiful when allowed to age and change naturally.
